Privacy
Glint is a small Irish project by Purple Frog. It has no accounts, no tracking and no ads. This page sets out the little it does keep. Questions go to hello@purplefrog.ie.

Where you are
When you open Glint, our host, Vercel, works out your rough area from your internet connection, usually to the nearest town. Glint uses it to choose a forecast and doesn't store it.
If you tap Use my exact location, your browser asks first. The position goes into the page address so the forecast can be worked out, and is saved on your device so Glint opens there next time. We don't keep it.
What's saved on your device
- Your last place and up to four recent searches, in your browser's storage.
- One cookie,
glint_place, holding your last place for up to a year, so the page opens there straight away. - Whether you chose light or dark mode, and which sunsets you've already rated.
None of this is used for tracking, and there's no cookie banner because nothing here needs one. To clear it, use Clear recent places or Go back to my approximate location under Change place, or clear the site's data in your browser.
What we keep
- How a sunset looked. If you rate one, we keep your answer with the date, whether it was a sunrise or sunset, the forecast we gave, and a position rounded to about 10 km. Nothing identifies you.
- Feedback and spot suggestions. We keep what you write and, only if you give it, your email address. We use the email only to reply to you.
These are stored with Supabase, in its Ireland data centre. We keep feedback and suggestions only as long as we need them to reply or act on them, and we'll delete them sooner if you ask.
Who else is involved
- Vercel runs the site from Dublin and keeps short-lived technical logs, as every web host does.
- Weather forecasts come from Open-Meteo. Our server asks for the forecast position; your own connection details are never sent.
- Directions and map links open Google Maps only when you tap them.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@purplefrog.ie, or use the feedback form with your email address so we can reply. If you're not happy with how we handle it, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission.
